Singapore and oldies

Tuesday, March 28, 2006

I was shocked and choked the very first night in Singapore with my sister and her husband when i saw OLD PEOPLE,who were collecting dishes left by the consumers.I can still see this seen after eight months in Singapore.
Man, this is shit.I don't want to say that there are no old poeple working like this, but very rare.
Not that many.
I felt sorry for them and was thinking whether they have families to take care of them.
I know Singapore is a rich and booming in IT for years.
I know the government is rich.
They are building high-rights and bridges, tubes.
And I found out that most of the singaporean like having dogs or cats.
I wonder they know or they don't know that they should take care of their old people.
I came from Myanmar where alot of old people are taken care by their families.
or by govt.Bcoz we pay respect to our elders.
Or govt is not rich and our country is not a developed country. But we know that we should take care of our old people.
I don't want to say that there are no old people who are taken care by their families.
There are definately but you can see every hocker center where old people are working for food.
I am not angry with Singaporean and i am not talking about politics. But i know singapore is in South East Asia but there is no south east asian enviroment.
My other colleagues said so.
For example, when we eat at the canteen, nomally we shared our food, not only Myanmar People, but indians also have this kind of habit, but not in Singaporean.
I am not saying that that habit is good or bad,i mean the different culture.
I like Singapore Physically but not mentally.I can have phone, internet access, good transportation inspite of high expenses.
I will post another topic if i come across.
